May Long Weekend Cruise to Daphne Island

Eight boats participated in the May Long Weekend cruise to Daphne Island. These included: Bethia, Waxwing, Almucantar, Shaunsea, Wily Mae, Blue Peter, Kanga and Khadine. Daphne Island belongs to the family of Rob Denny, who was our host and cruise leader. It is a lovely little island, in Brentwood Bay, just off the mouth of Tod Inlet. The weather was beautiful with good wind for sailing part of the way over and the same on the return to Salt Spring. Boats gathered at the island, some anchoring and some on the dock, by Friday afternoon. A very happy Happy Hour was held ashore.

On the Saturday, crews of several boats went by dinghy to the head of Tod Inlet for a hike ashore while others visited Buchart Gardens to see the spring flowers. Saturday was capped by a very enjoyable pot luck dinner on Daphne Island. On Sunday morning people visited back and forth until it was time to depart. Four boats returned to the club docks while the rest continued the cruise for another day, some to Royal Cove on Portland Island and others to Russell Island at the entrance to Fulford Harbour.

Thank you very much to Rob for hosting us and to all who came for the fun.
