CAPTAIN PASSAGE
RE-RUN, 10th October, 2004
There were only six boats out for this race however the day looked promising with a 5-8
knot southeast wind as we were positioning ourselves for the start. At about 3 minutes to
the start the wind died on the line and we all bunched up near the outer buoy. I think
QUESTO was the first away but we all had great difficulty getting to the wind which
could be easily seen off the spit. It might best be described as a staggered start.
ALACRITY was by far the last away at about 1020.
Thereafter it was a grand day on the water with a reasonable breeze and a bight sunny
day. I wish I could report more fully on the race but ALACRITY was so behind I really do
not know what went on. At one point I did see on the horizon WESTWIND and QUESTO
battling it out but otherwise we were all strung out round the course. It was however great
to be out on the water on such a fine day.

I did not get CAT DANCERŐs time but I do not think she was able to place even allowing
for the spirited spinnaker run home.
