WEDNESDAY EVENING, 4th August 2004

Yet another glorious evening on the water. The clouds parted about 1600 and by the time

nine, yes nine, boats crossed the start line at 1700 we were enjoying clear skies, an

evening sun and a steady 8 to 10 knot breeze from the east.

The relocated outer start mark made for a short line and some close sailing at the start. The

weather mark was Bat Rock with ELECTRA rounding first, followed by FINAL DASH.

FANDANGO and WESTWIND were not far behind and JEEKERS! , having a really good

race, was also in hot pursuit.

We were very happy to welcome the thunderbird SHADOW, owned and maintained by

the local Sea Scots.

From Bat Rock the course was a close reach to U62, then a spinnaker run all the way to

the finish leaving Welbury Spar to Port on the way. Regrettably, your scribe was not

able to enjoy the full pleasures of the evenings adventure. Soon after Second Sister

outward, ALACRITY punched a hole in the headsail, which hung up on the spreader and

we spent far to long correcting the problem. With only two on board we were also NFS,

which, under the conditions, was probably wise but a disappointment never the less.

Results, time on time
