WEDNESDAY EVENING SERIES, 9TH
JUNE
A pleasant evening on the water followed by a BBQ at the clubhouse with good food
and good company. ItŐs what the Wednesday Evening Series is all about. There were
seven boats at the start line in a light south easterly with a little more wind visible on the
water down the harbour.
The first mark was the speed buoy, then back to outside start line, a beam reach to the
inside start line buoy and a sharp turn to avoid the dock out towards Second sister before
returning to the finish line. The energetic hoisted spinnakers for the first short downwind
leg that was the correct action as the wind went light at this point. On the upwind leg
MINKE and CLASSY LADY saw wind by the spit and staying on the south side of the
course recovered some lost ground.
The run home gave enough wind to require some attention to sail trim but not enough to
disturb the growing appetites for the BBQ.
Scores are time on time.
