MONTAGUE HBR & SINGLE-HANDED RACES

I am a little out of touch as ALACRITY is out of the water getting a paint job. I am told

that the Montague Hbr race was a god ride with only a few parking lots behind Parker

Island.

In fact is was such a pleasant day on the water that there has been a limited memory of

actual finish times and some estimating has been done by MINKE while STRAWBERRY

EXPRESS will only admit to being behind FINAL DASH and ahead of MINKE. I am told

that LUNA was having a good outing until they noticed that the bolt holding the

gooseneck to the mast fitting was missing. Fortunately this was noticed before the gybe.

The single-handed race was conducted on a beautiful warm autumn day, The fact that

the wind was fickle did not appear to worry the participants that much; all were enjoying

the fact that they were out there. The elapsed times are close for such a wide range of

ratings, which clearly shows how difficult it was for the lower rated boats to break free.
