Sunday August 23, 2009

A very pleasant day for the ladies (and lords).  Seven boats out, most with "acceptable" crew except Baron Rouge with 2 Jill's and Soul Thyme with a kilted Scot. The race was 3 times round the buoys and around a managerie of other boats anchored all over the harbour.  The warm light winds shifted from east to south east on the last circuit which gave a big advantage to the early boats.  Caliente held the lead for most of the race followed by Soul Thyme and Electra who stretched their lead over the other 4 who seemed to be dueling their way round the harbour.

The best part was the picnic on the dock.  Smoked tuna and salmon, dips, pastries and even dessert with hand whipped cream... no need for dinner after this one!

Prevost Challenge update:

Four boats have tried the Round Prevost Challenge so far this year. In order of corrected times (TOD, with standard PHRF handicaps):

Electra 1:59:45
Oasis 2:17:54
Imp 2:22:23
Impossible 3:08:43

Remember that all boats who enter this event will be elligible to win a bottle of vintage single malt scotch at the Annual Awards Night. This is a simple lottery, so no matter how long you take to get around Prevost, you have the same chance as all the others.
