Channel Islands Race

Sunday June 13 2010

An inconsistant northernly pushed the 6 boats across the start line, and we all made it out to Batt Rock in roughly the same breeze. Imp managed to get around and start to the second mark – Welbury Spar – but the others had a hard go of it, and had to tack slowly back and forth against the ebbing tide until a new and stronger south east wind took over. Martin in Kay D had decided to call it a day by then.

The rest of the race was gorgeous. Imp got away from the slower rated boats, but there was some close finishing, particularly between Mario Tello and Toby.

So in the end, it was a warm, sunny pleasant sail with a traditional beer at on the breakwater after the boats were put away.

Greg Slakov on Imp.

PS – could somebody volunteer to write a couple of these reports next Wednesday?
