The 34th ROUND SALT SPRING RACE takes place on the weekend of May 16 to 18 at the Salt Spring Island Sailing Club. The start is on Saturday at 10 am in Ganges Harbour.
ROUND SALTSPRING is a challenging and scenically spectacular circumnavigation of Salt Spring Island, a nominal distance of 42 NM. It is sailed by everything from funky pocket cruisers to out-and-out grand prix racing machines, skippered by everyone from novice sailors to Olympic champions.
But it is the whole event, not just the race itself, that keeps sailors coming back year after year. The weekend starts on Friday evening with a no-host bar, informal supper and Salt Spring musicians, moves on to a complimentary continental breakfast on Saturday, and winds up with a revamped Salt Spring lamb barbecue on Sunday. Finally the awards ceremony bestows trophies and spectacular baskets filled with Salt Spring products to divisional winners, as well as an array of donated prizes for draw winners. |
