Craig Leitch opened the 2020 SISC Round Prevost Challenge by completing the non-stop circumnavigation in 2:44:02 (corrected) on Saturday, March 14th. The Challenge is open to all singlehanded sailors (or to people living together).
Take your time at the Club starting line, take Prevost either to Starboard or Port (your choice), and record your finish time at the Club finish line. Send your finish time to the FCR (firstname.lastname@example.org). Your ‘corrected’ time will be calculated and recorded using PHRF. Your PHRF is adjusted up if you do not use a spinnaker, so please tell the FCR if you flew a spinnaker.
A trophy is awarded at the end of the year for fastest time. Prizes will be awarded for ‘least fast’ time, and most attempts. You can see the times recorded by participating boats in the ‘Accumulated Points’ section on the Racing page.
This is a great opportunity to get out on your boat, with a destination in mind, for a few hours. As our Provincial Health Director, Dr. Bonnie Henry, recommends, “You can go outside. But go only with your family members in small groups and maintain those distances. It is important for us to keep our health and mental health going as well through this.”
