BE WHALE-WISE! Whale Watch ZOOM Seminar March 2

March 2, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

What Boaters Need to Know About Whales

What should you do if:

You see a whale entangled in fishing gear?

A whale breaches too close to your boat?

You witness an incident involving marine mammals?

The diversity and complexity of marine mammal life in BC waters is truly extraordinary! Living near the Salish Sea we are privileged to glimpse magnificent creatures such as sea otters, seals, dolphins, porpoises, Orca and Humpback whales. But as marine vessel traffic steadily increases, it places added pressure on marine mammals and their habitats, and sadly, the Southern Resident Orcas are now listed as Endangered.

Collisions with boats is a major cause of whale deaths. Thus, boaters in our waters need to Be Whale Wise and follow the regulations that can minimize their impact on local whale populations and other marine mammals. Don’t be caught out this summer by not knowing the best practices for boating-whale interactions.

Join the Zoom web-cast seminar on Thursday, March 2nd
